Martina Asciak graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) in Communication Therapy from the University of Malta in 2017, and went on to pursue an M.SC in Language and Communication Impairments in Children from the University of Sheffield. Ms. Asciak believes in continuous professional development and since graduating has received training in: Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Colourful Semantics, Social Stories training and Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale (ADOS-2). Ms. Asciak’s clinical experience is focused on a pediatric population and includes working in a variety of settings; schools, nurseries, individual intervention in clinics as well as group intervention. Ms. Asciak has worked within the education sector for over 4 years offering support to children experiencing developmental delays as well as children with genetic syndromes, Autism Spectrum Disorder and speech sound disorders. She has thus experienced working in multidisciplinary teams in the assessment, planning and delivery of strategies and intervention programs within schools and also the home environment. Within the TAASC team, Ms. Asciak is involved in the assessment and intervention of speech, language and communication-related difficulties in children. She promotes child-centered planning by working hand in hand with the clients’ parents to provide evidence-based intervention.
