Greg Sammut obtained his first degree in psychology in 2005, graduating with a Bachelor in Psychology with Honours from the University of Malta. After working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health for two years and obtaining a Postgraduate Certificate in Systemic Therapy, he obtained his Masters in Counselling Psychology in 2009.
Since then has been working in the mental health field, both in the national health service and in the private sector. Over the years, he has been involved in community mental health teams, crisis intervention, the running of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy groups and, most recently, in hard-to-reach young people. He works mostly with adults and adolescents, and is particularly interested in anxiety-related work. His research further touches on anxiety and attachment related issues.
Dr Sammut’s approach to therapy borrows mostly from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), systemic therapies and dialectical behaviour therapy. His clients find him to be very approachable and easy to talk to.
