Ms Michelle Mifsud, Speech and Language Pathologist
Michelle read for her first degree under the auspices of the University of Malta, where she graduated with a degree in Communication Therapy in 2016. She was then accepted to further her studies at the University of Sheffield, wherefrom she graduated with distinction in 2020 with a postgraduate master's degree in Language and Communication Impairment in Children.
Michelle spent over five years working within Early Intervention in the Public Sector while practising speech therapy in the private sector. In addition to her private practice as a speech-language pathologist, Michelle is a guest lecturer at various institutions of further and higher education, including the University of Malta.
In both her undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, Michelle focused on autism in girls, her now marked area of interest - together with anything autism related. She shared her undergraduate research ‘Girls with Autism Spectrum Disorder: Missed Diagnosis or Misdiagnosis?’ at ACAMH conferences in 2016 and 2019. She also presented her post-graduate research, ‘Unveiling Autism in Girls’ internationally, at INSAR 2021.
Moreover, Michelle has received training in ‘Lis’n Tell: Live Inclusive Story Telling’ training from the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists in London. She is also trained to administer Nuffield: Dyspraxia; SOS Approach to Feeding; ADOS; and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).
She is keenly interested in the Early Years and has extensive experience working with young children. Michelle is driven by her passion for working with children. She believes in tailored, family-centred intervention and adapts to each client's individual needs.
